I noticed that many of my unused reeds are mouldy due long periods of non-usage. However, these reeds look fine after washing them with water. They still have the nice cream color and sheen after washing and played fine.

I believe there still traces of moulds hidden within the reeds as some of them still tasted funny.
My question is, will they be any health hazards playing them even if I wash them thoroughly?

Mold can develop on reeds if they are stored too damp or improperly in a reed case. It is nothing to worry about, the mold won't hurt you. Wash the reeds off and you can use some antiseptic handsoap. Health wise, your body can battle off things a lot more vile than that little bit of mold, its more just the mental thought that you have mold in your mouth

Some types of mould are even good for you, so I've heard.
