A couple of weeks ago I sent one of my Morgan c-melody mouthpieces back to Ralph for a check over. [This piece is the first c-melody mouthpiece that Ralph made for me] I noticed a subtle buzzy quality in my sound at times when I used it. Whatever it was, the hint of a buzz is not present in my sound with the second Morgan c-melody piece that I got a few months ago.
The mouthpiece came back from Ralph today. I'd sure like to know what he did to tweek it. This piece PLAYS!!!! The sound is clean (no buzz), ALIVE, extremely responsive, and it projects like crazy. With this piece my 84-year old horn most definitely does not play like your grandfather's c-melody!

Ralph is such an artist! My excalibur is an older one from back in the bilger-morgan days. I often wonder if it would be worth sending it to him just to have him check over it and make and corrections from wear and tear.

Thank you Roger and hello Sinkdrain! I'm glad that did the trick on your C-Melody, Roger. Thanks to both of you for all your kind words. Sinkdrain, I'd be more than happy to check out your Excalibur for you and see if it needs anything. It would cost you all of about five bucks for the return postage. Give me an email at: morganinfo@ameritech.net
Thanks again!

SinkDraiN,
If it was me, I wouldn't send the mouthpiece to Ralph Morgan - I'd find some way to bring it to him in person. I visited with Ralph when I bought a mouthpiece for my Buescher soprano, and he's simply an amazing person.
In addition to taking home a great Morgan mouthpiece, I learned a heck of a lot about my horn and saxophones in general.

I got my excalibur back from Ralph today. I sent it to him just to look it over and touch it up. He took out all the nicks and scratches on the facing and rails and it plays better than ever. Even with the "bad" reeds I set aside. Thanks Ralph!!

Could someone please help me with this. I have been wanting to buy a Morgan 7M Jazz Model for alto for some time and can't find one available. Above, some of you have delt directly with Mr. Morgan. I used the e-mail above and will see the response. In the mean time does anyone know where I could buy one new and not have to wait till the next centry. Thanks :D

Ralph Morgan never replied my emails. You might want to call him.

I think you can order one at junkdude.com. Also they sell them at Rayburn's in Boston, though I wouldn't 'specially recommend dealing with that store.

I just got a reply from Ralph today to an email I sent at about the beginning of March....he's probably got tons of the stuff to go through, and backorders of m/p's to fill as well.

Phil,
Contacting Dave Hoskins at http://www.junkdude.com is one of the most direct ways to buy a Morgan mouthpiece or get more information about them. Dave lives pretty close to Ralph's shop, gets mouthpieces from Ralph almost as fast as they are made, and has become Ralph's internet distributer. I've done quite a bit of Business with Dave. He normally responds to emails within a day and has great customer service.

I second the praises for both Dave and Ralph. Dave took good care of me, and Ralph made an awesome C-melody mouthpiece for me. The horn itself still has some problems, but I can't fault Ralph for that! I've just gotten so wrapped up in spring landscaping that it's made it hard to get anywhere on the saxes.
