Anyone know of a brand of thumb hook cushion that fits the narrower thumb hooks, and doesn't slide around? The Selmer I had on my soprano was too wide and eventually came apart.

I've had one on my alto now for two months and it hasn't come off yet. It's called a "THUM-EEZ" made in Cleveland, Ohio. Joe.

Ol Danl: I bought a short length of plastic tubing at the hardware store, then cut it to fit my alto Conn's short little thumb hook. That worked. I have the same thing on one of my old straight Buescher sops, too, and that makes those little thumb hooks much better. DAVE

I did have a piece of natural rubber tubing on there once, for quite a while. It started out as a block of rubber sponge that was glued to the rubber tubing, and the sponge didn't last any time at all. The tubing was still better than the bare hook. I'll look into the thumb-eez. If they don't have something this small at a local store, you just have to wait until you need a bunch of reeds or something to make it worthwile to mail order it. I think the local band inst. store just has the ones like I took off.

I use a rubber clarinet thumb rest on my Buescher soprano called the "tom thumb"
