Has any of you tried this dealer? I ordered a Meyer mouthpiece from them a few months ago. I was informed that the product was out of stock and was given the choice of waiting. So I waited about two months when I received an email informing me that the mouthpiece was back in stock.
It was all fine up to this point until the item was shipped - it has been over 3 weeks and I still haven't received the mouthpiece. According to saxplus.com, international shipping to the UK from the US usually takes 3 weeks, although I swear it took less than that for everything I bought before from the US, and apparently it will take 60 days before he could file an inquiry with the US post office.
Has anyone used saxplus.com before, especially international buyers, and what is your opinion of the dealer? Did his shipping take 3 weeks? Were there any problems? I'm worried because it's taking so long to arrive, and I've never used this dealer before.

I just had a very negative experience with Saxplus.
I ordered some reeds since their price was inviting. Shipping to Canada was a hefty 10.99$, so immediately after placing the order I asked if it was possible to put the reeds in a normal envelope, regular postage and get a discount. Since I ordered 4 Legere reeds whose box is very small (definitely "minimal") that was surely possible.
The owner, I think Mark, replied that their orders go through a very automated system which makes them unmodifiable. Never believed what he said, first negative point.
When I received them, I was surprised that they did arrive in a regular envelope and the postage was just 0.95$. Second very negative point: why shipping to Canada should be so expensive (11x the real shipping) if he then uses the same postage he'd use for any other US shipment?
Third negative surprise: I got them 3.5 weeks after the order and the envelope was stamped 10 days later than my order was confirmed. Also slow shipping for item listed in stock.
Fourth negative surprise: out of 4 tenor reeds I orderd, 2 turned out to be alto reeds. Sent them back, of course at my expenses, got the correct ones more than a month after. Since I am in Canada, I paid 8$ of brokerage fees twice instead of just once.
Here you go a store I erased from my list and I definitely won't look back!
If you are in the US it is very possible that you'll experience better service. For international customers I think they must be avoided.

I got a lig and some reeds from them a while ago, without problems, but decided that the shipping cost to canada made it more worthwhile to just get what I need at Long and McQuade when Im in the Toronto area on business. If I need to mail order something, I would maybe give them a go though, I dont think they are worse than say wwbw for example, and sometimes they have stock others dont.
Sorry for your bad luck.

If you are going to post something like this, you should at least make your post complete and get the facts correct. The order for three Legere reeds was placed on 2/28/06 and shipped the next day on 3/1/06. I received the email requesting the reduced shipping after the order was shipped. On 3/13 I received an email from this customer informing me of the mistake of shipping the wrong reeds, so the delivery time was 2 weeks, not 3.5 weeks as stated. Also rispoli forgot to mention that I offered her a $10 credit on shipping for her next order if she chose to place one. Unfortunately, one of the limitations of my shopping cart is that I cannot have different shipping costs for different locations. BTW, I have all the emails and records to prove what I have stated here and will post them if needed.

Mark - this is a friendly question, but it's bound to come up so see this as an opportunity. :) Eventually, those shopping basket automated orders must reach a live person to finalise everything. What, at that point, prevents you from revising the shipping method and cost?

Every customer has the opportunity to compare the total price to other retailers before placing an order. In my shopping cart, you can see what the shipping charges are before entering any personal information, unlike many other sites.
The real answer is having a more flexible shopping cart and I am working on that as time allows.

I must share with you MY experience.
I live in Israel and a lot of times I find online shops all over the world that aren't able to ship to Israel, some others do, but at astronomical prices, for example, I wanted to buy a nice set of microphone, cable, stand, etc, all that for a total of $65, the shipping cost was $85!!! because they only ship through UPS.
When I started looking for online shops where I can buy reeds, I've found saxplus to be the cheapest of all, that including the overall costs, I've found a cheaper shop (maybe a dollar less for a 5 pack), but they wouldn't ship to Israel.
I ordered two 5 packs of different reeds, and something like 10 days I've got them in my mailbox. I'm very happy with the service, I've got mails from them reporting about the status of the order and so.
I like the cheap prices they have, and I believe that if sometimes are people that the orders didn't go so well, is not a reason to remove the shop from your list, give them another chance, I guess that for every unhappy customer there are dozens of happy ones, like me.
I'll definately buy again from them, I also know they're good people, my friend Paul Coats knows the owner, so, if I have problems with some order, I'll tell Paul to pay them a visit with some of his "arsenal" item... ;-)
Oh, and guys at saxplus, expect for an e-mail from me, I need to ask some questions before I place an order for an mpc.
