How to select a good reed?

Call me dumb, but I dont know how to distinguish the good reeds from the duds. Someone please help

Practice a lot and play a lot of different reeds...it will just become obvious. I find the best players can sound great with nearly any reed, but are picky about how much work that it takes...that is what distinguishes the reeds
