Wouldn't it be cool if you could stick a little paper shaped umm "thing" to your reed that would actually have taste?
Like those mint ones you stick to the top of your mouth.
Sounds cool to me.

Note: This thread isn't to be taken seariously.

Some companies actually make flavoured reeds, perhaps you should check them out. Or you could just take a hint from our flute playing friends and either chew gum or eat candy whilst you play!

Your repairman will love you for all the extra repads and bore cleaning business you'll generate!

I know a girl at my school who once soaked her reed in grape soda, and she said it tasted awful.

Those rascals stole your idea 30 years before you thought of it.

Spaz strikes again.

Actually, there are some flavors I could really dig putting in my mouth as I play. Wonder if they do custom work.

Anyone remember the Barq's rootbeer commercial where a tenor sax player dips his reed in barq's rootbeer, starts squeaking out notes, and then says it's got bite? I find it's hard to taste soda on reeds. Binaca seems to taste much better :D

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who wakes up and craves cane first thing in the morning!

I like a new reed! I soak them in water to get them wet, usually, but I always wet the new ones in my mouth first 'cause I like the taste of new cane. :)

Flavoreeds are awful. Some friends and I went to the music store and bought a bunch for our horns (clarinets, alto and tenor saxes). They taste OK, but they don't play well.

Thank goodness there are others who like this taste. I did hate it initially, but I've tasted it so often that its grown on me.
