You might try the Vandoren Optimum lig with Alexander Superials. Works for me.
ive had a few of them. they are excellent mouthpieces for r/b funk fusion. i liked them a lot but i had trouble really playing soft and pretty on them. i do like them for tenor also. i think the jumbos are very good pieces. im on a beechler bellite for alto now but i still keep a jumbo around.

I HAVE one such mouthpiece but I want to know what reed to use that won't squeak. Right now I can't get any stronger than orange Rico 2.5's.
i use fibracell soft or med soft on my a45. no squeaking. bright sound but has some depth to it. try a fibracell on them and let me know what you think.

superials are good reeds with my jumbo a55, I get a great sound with the dc's.i use dc 2.5's. superials start squeeking when they go bad for me. this is one thing I dont like about them. Good for around a week to 10 days for me at 2-3 hours a day.

Yes, DC reeds play with very little resistance in the upper range and are prone to squeaking more than others. Combine that with a high baffle mouthpiece, you got yourself a bird call. Nevertheless, the Jumbo Java is a great playing mouthpiece.
