I just received my Tenor yesterday. I never played tenor before, but I have been playing soprano for 4 years. I want to get a metal link for my Tenor, but dont know what opening is good for me. I play 6* metal link on my sop. The stock 4C sounded really bad on my tenor. Should I just go with my sop setup (6*) for my tenor?

When I first starting playing tenor I started with a 5 or a 5* but then moved up later to a 7 NY. I now play on a 8* florida. The 6* would probably be a good start. Play as many of them as you can between 5 and 7 and go from there.

I've been happy with the same size Link (HR #7) on soprano, tenor and bari.

I have been playing Link 7*'s for a while now but recently I picked up an early Babbitt metal Link 5*. I'm surprised at how well it plays. It actually has a nice full Link sound that's not at all stuffy and because it's a 5* it's easy to play. My point being you might have to try a few sizes and just pick the one that works for you. Moving up to larger openings is not a necessity.
