View Full Version : 6 marking with the .095 feeler
48 36 28 22 16 12 6 on a .111 tip
I'd like to get this 6 marking back down to a 4.
I can take it all down by sanding the table, and redo the rails.
But I was thinking about taking some off the tip.
Suggestions?
Thanks
Take the table down until you hit your target. Then open up the tip in front of it (the .095 feeler) and lengthen the facing behind it to get it back to spec. FWIW I do some degree of this to all the Links and Meyers I do because the curve on them is much more nearly radial than the one I use.
Thanks MFRY.
The FWIW info was very helpful. I've found myself doing similar facings, so it's good to know that someone else is going down that path.
I ended up doing both :) Took a little off the tip, which didn't work. Then I took off the table and reset the rail numbers. It's not quite there yet, but I was pleasantly surprised at what happened to it. And it's way better then it was. It's an BWWW LT DG MB II that I've been totally experimenting with, I botched the tip, that's why it was at the 6 marking. NOTHING is the same on it. But now I realize that I've happened upon some HM post bop numbers, even the floor and baffle are very similar now, accidentally so.
Sometimes, I've hit some luck with the devil-may-care approach. :)
