The other day i got my first brand spankin new Jupiter Tenor, it's the intermediate model. I played it in the store, with about three other tenors and despite it being the second lowest pricing, i thought it was the easiest to play, and my sax teacher agreed (who was there with me) that it had the best sound. So i got it, no leaks, everything was dandy.

I got home and i played it, it was not as good as the store. Compared to my old Bundy 2, it was better in tone. Not in the note production though. Upper register is much better but lower register is quite a bit harder to play. I can play Bb and B fine but E, Eb, D, C# and C give a sound like the flutter effect but more jumpy and not produced by using flutter. In the store it was a breeze to jump octaves but now its the same as my bundy. Is this maybe because i'm playing with a couple bad reeds? Or is it that i just need to adjust to my new sax?

I have the same mouthpiece by my teacher said that i should probably wait a month before getting a new one so i can get used to the saxophone itself. I'm using a cruddy plastic mouthpiece that i got with the sax and 3 strength Rico Royale reeds. Just need clarification on whether or not theres a problem besides the saxophone being new.

Did you bring home the same saxophone that you tried at the store or a different one that came from the store's stockroom? Just a detail, but that may be it.

Also, getting rid of those bad reeds wouldn't be a bad idea.
