Help identifying this Vito alto??

The price is certainly right even if it's a student model, but the owner doesn't seem to know the model number. I did get some cell phone camera pics, though they may not help much. This is probably a stretch but SOTW has come through for me before on ID's. Or maybe shed a little light on what to expect? The owner says its at least 15 years old. I'm not looking for a pro horn here...something to mess around with. My main focus is tenor.

It looks like the Yamaha one to me. Does it say Japan on it?

That's a VITO/Yamaha Yas-23. Great horn, pro horn sold as a student IMO

I thought the YxS-23's were Yamaha's entry level sax's? I have a YTS-61 which is the pro line tenor.

The YxS' 23s are Yamaha's entry level offering, but many are of the opinion that they are pro level horns. They are definately good value , for the money. The Vito pictured is a Yamaha made horn.

I've got one exactly like that. Great, great horn. $150 is an absolute bargain, even if it needs a bit of work. And as they're Yamahas, every tech in the world can work on them.

Just picked it up...needs a new case, but that's not a big deal to me right now as I really won't be taking it anywhere. Other than that, looks to be in good shape. Now I just need to go get some reeds. I haven't played an alto in sooooooooooooooo long. Probably 15 years.
