I have a mouthpiece I own, a Selmer Goldentone and it was way too closed for me. Just out of interest I took a picture of the window, rails, and baffle of a vintage florida
(I liked the Goldentone A LOT at first but it was the only tenor piece I played in my life and now I realize that the tenor just feels naturally better to me)
With the picture of the florida I opened the window, and thinned out the rails. All I need left is to make it have a gutsier rollover baffle. Does anyone know how to do this?

do a search for "epoxy". Lots of threads on adding baffle. Start with dental wax, figure out a shape you like, then try to make it with epoxy. Good luck.

What sort of epoxy would you use? I've got a lot of crap from searches that are dumb like melted electric tape but what would a real mpc engineer use? Also what does the thinning of the rails do? I did a pretty bad job (I can fix it) and it is MUCH better with the thinned out rails. Also what do straight vs scooped sidewalls do?

You have got a lot of research to do. Fortunately, all the answers to your questions are in this very topic area, so start digging!

M, any sort of knead together epoxy putty should work fine. Plumber's putty from a supply shop is near black, and obviously not too toxic. Get a few 15 $ plastic mouthpieces to mess with first, and start with blue tack putty. Remember a little work near the tip yields the best results without making the chamber smaller (unless that's what you want.)
The smaller the chamber the generally brighter the piece. Obviously, this can get quite involved!

Also have a search over on the Yahoo Mouthpiece forum:

Hope this helps.

Mfry mentions using Apoxie Sculpt (http://www.avesstudio.com/Products/Apoxie_Sculpt/apoxie_sculpt.html) on his Floridated Links.
