Hello,
Anyone out there know if all 241 necks were the same relative to the reinforcing strip, octave lever, silver/nickel plated " H " arrow-head looking pce soldered on the back arc of the neck tube, and the lever guide? I can't find many or any photos of this horn. Mine has s/n of 178XXX.
Any info would be appreciated.

Maddahorn,
I'll get you a pic of my 241's neck when I get home from vacation. Can you attach a picture of yours? I'm not quite sure what the silver-plated "H" is that you're referring to. Is the rest of the neck lacquered brass or silver?

Please note info on the "modern vintage" compilation page:

I have seen a picture of a 241 neck that was much more like older Holtons ("loop" octave key instead of fancy double-arm on others). I'm not sure that is original however. The picture of it looks odd--possibly mismatched.

Edit: Here's some pics of a 178XXX 241--scroll down for neck pictures.

Here's a pic of the oddball 241 neck (sn 182415) I mention on the modern vintage list. The more I look at it, I just think it's from another model and being used as a replacement (I could be wrong of course though).

Contrast pic above with the pic of the ebay 241 (typical 241 neck)

Mine are also the "typical" as described by Geauxsax - the shield with the "H" is lacquered brass in both cases.
