An eFlay purchase for $325...seller wasn't exactly talkin' it up so I didn't expect much.

Lucky me...it is one of the few eFlay purchases I have made where the horn didn't require work. She played right out of the case, up and down. issues are aesthetic: 60% lacquer, some red rot, some missing pearls.....
But pads seal well, although they are on the wrong side of half-life, and she plays up and down sweetly. Nice round tone, much mellower and fuller than a contemporary soprano.
Intonation is pretty good across registers, nothing which a tad of lipping and some familiarity won't smooth over (like most vintage sopranos).
Serial 101XX...anyone know where that places 'er ?
All in all, while I understand that, like R&C, these were more workaday horns back in the day ....also like old R&C's, this one is a nice player....I kinda dunno exactly what the dig against old Italian horns are...I have owned sevral and they all were pretty solid and played well.....
