I noticed that James Houlik uses Alexander DC reeds for classical tenor...has anybody tried this?...how'd they do?

I think that the DCs is great reeds. I'm not an classical player and prefer Vandoren Jazz but I've tried the DCs and they are great. Joshua Redman uses them for jazz but it is a classical reed. The boxes they are comming in is really cool to:)

Actually, Alexander markets the DC as more suitable for big band, stage band, and/or marching band (but I'm certainly not about to quarrel with Mr. Houlik about using it for classical!).
I use the DC, #3, for big band on the Selmer Super Session D mpc. That's on alto, however. I just got some of the new NY reeds to try, but no opinion as yet.

I personally hate the marketing of reeds for a style of play, its perposterous.
A reeds response depends on the mouthpiece your playing and how you produce tone.
For example: I never thought of a Java(either cut) as a particularly "jazzy" reed because the relatively shorter vamp is not optimum for my longer facing length.
