Heard lot of good comments about Nadir Ibrahimoglu who's making handmade guardalas now and was wondering if some people plays them here and if they were compare to the originals handmade in terms of sound quality. I never played one and your reviews would be appreciated!!
Thanks!

I'm playing on a NI Branford. Its a beautifully made and wonderful sounding mouthpiece.

I don't have an original DG handmade branford, but I have a handmade Crescent. The finishing work on the NI is outstanding. The only difference noticeable to my eye, is that the tip rail on the NI is a bit thicker, providing a bit more resistance.

He does great "hand made" work and the PMS regular DG LTs are good too. They are a little different than the WW&BW ones but will sound similar. Except for the PMS MB2 LT. A good MP but not true to DGs original MB2 design. I dont know why they did that. They should know better.

Maybe because he's NOT GUARDALA?

Q: When is a "handmade" Guardala not a Guardala?

A: When it is made by someone other than Dave Guardala.

True, but it is weird. The PMS MBII's LT's have a bullet chamber and bear no resemblance to the original design, while the "hand made" versions have the step baffle with the "cheeked-out" chamber and are very much like the originals. It's crazy to have two models with very different chambers both called the same thing, MBII, especially considering how the MBII LT is exactly like another DG model, the King.
I will say the hand made PMS versions that I've tried out were well made, though brighter than the originals that I've played......

A: When it is made by someone other than Dave Guardala."Guardala" is mouthpiece brand name now. Like Brilhart, Link, Meyer, Berg, etc. it will live on without the hand of the creator touching the mouthpieces. A handmade NI Guardala is what it is. So is a (vintage) handmade DG Guardala.

Fortunately, the quality of the modern made Guardalas is pretty good and at a lower price point. Though the handmade NI's get pricey.
