My new Kessler Large Bell Bronze alto came in this week.
This horn has a very "rich" dark tone. I was able to play the entire range of the horn from low b-flat to e-flat4 altissimo with no problems. Intonation is on spot. (Not that anyone would actually go that high....just putting the horn through it paces) The keylayout is very comfortable and responsive. The horn is very free-blowing. The low notes were very easy to play softly or you could really make them speak. I normally use a meyer g series mothpiece and a rovner dark ligature. I bought the Kessler Custom "Short Shank" NYSS Medium Chamber Hard Rubber Alto Mouthpiece. This piece with the rovner dark ligature worked very well for me. The meyer g series is now my back-up piece. :D This is an exceptional saxophone especially for the price.
Thanx Dave for a great product and for your time and patience in answering all my questions. I'm now going to order the 586-bc soprano !!
