A conversation with Santy...

I just had a 45 minute chat with Santy, and he wanted me to pass along to everybody that he's feeling great and playing well. He also asked that I remind you of his birthday party on April 8 in Lafayette, La.

I second the reports of Santy's health and good playing. Santy has graciously agreed to allow me to make a video about him. It will show Santy explaining and demonstrating the many teaching techniques that he's invented and used with 1000's of players over the years including Bird, Stitt, Harry Carney and tons of other greats. It will also include a section on mouthpiece refacing, which coming from Santy will be tremendous. I also want to have a section with archival footage and biographical information and possibly interviews with people that Santy has influenced. My goal is to make this a great tribute to Santy and to share Santy's priceless knowledge with everyone.

So I would love to hear questions that all of you might like to ask Santy and perhaps I can include them on the video. Please post them here; it will be great to hear the answers from someone who's influenced music and saxophonists so much.
