Is it true that the new Series III altos come with a high G key, if so does it cost any more than standard keys. Where do they place the high "g" any plans for Tenor high G?

As far as I know, the G3 key is only on the soprano.

No high G key on my 610,XXX Serie III alto (made in March 2002).

Perhaps you are thinking of the "harmonic vent" option. This has been discussed elsewhere and has been an option for a long time; it is supposed to faciliate high G and altissimo playing. It is an additional octave vent and the key is played with the left thumb just to the left of the "normal" octave key.

High G is certainly a feature of the Serie III soprano; it is just above the F# key and played with the right hand (long finger or ring finger).

I just bought a saxello. It has the three keys ion the right hand for High F#, high G. I wondered what kets you would press to get the high G. Do I press the usual high F keys then the high G key. Also the three keys, are they (High G, high F#, and the fork F# ?)

Thanks in advance,
Jerry

If you go to WWBW the series III comes in different options. one of them has a high G key, so not all of them have that key, and also I think there is one option that has a third octave key.

A picture is worth 1000 words:

You can use the F# and G keys in two different ways, but I can summarize them like this:

Finger a high F -- whether by palm keys or the Front F -- and add the F# key, you will get F#. Finger high F and add the G key (which automatically opens the F# hole as well) and you will get G.

I find that F# via the Front F works OK but is a bit fuzzy, but front F + G key is seriously slow to respond. The "fistful of palm keys" method is much more reliable.

Since this picture was taken I have added corks to the tops of these keytouches just to make them easier to reach. No matter, they're still F# and G keys.
