Is it true this mouthpiece sounds pretty much like a New York Meyer?

What does a NY Meyer sound like? Cannonball? Phil Woods? or do you just sound like your old self?
Seriously, the small chamber Vandorens and NY Meyers are different. The NY Meyers are brighter, more alive sounding. The A7S plays closer to a current Meyer 7S. If you compare them, they look almost identical, except the Vandoren has wider rails.

Actually, I haven't used my Meyer 5M a lot this last years ... the opening is too small for me, I prefer opening around .85.
Normally I play on a RPC (Coelho) rubber mouthpiece opening to .85 which is in many ways perfect. But playing lead alto I sometimes are told "to play louder" or "fatter" or "with more projection", so I got a bit annoyed with the RPC.
I'm looking for a mouthpiece with a less spread sound than the RPC. That's why I asked about the Vandoren.

Write me an email if you want a Vandoren. I have one and a bunch of other stuff that you might be interested.

Although of course everyone is different my experience with the V16 7 small were quite dissapointing. I hated it, thought it was terrible really. No where near as good as a current production Meyer in my opinion. Sold it immediately. And my metal V16 is my all time favorite mouthpiece.
You might look at an SR Tech legend, a buddy just got one and it made a huge improvement in his sound.
I just got a Lawton metal that I use on amplified gigs in place of the Jumbo Jave I have used. And an old Broadus when I want to play quietly and sound beautiful.
The one other great recent find suprisingly was a stock Ackerman .82 not one of the expensive ones. Like a supercharged Meyer and not expensive either.

Actually I have a Vandoran V16 A7S, and I really like it. It plays with a nice strong edge, silky smooth response, and has excellent projection. I think you'd probably like this mpc, and it seems to fit your needs.

Actually, I bought a V16 maybe one month ago and I totally agree with what Vortex says. It's great for playing lead alto in a big band or solo with a small group.
