I'm looking to start doing some flute transcriptions now that my playing is almost ok.

Anyone know any good recordings of autumn leaves for the flute - or for that matter any other decent standards? I'm looking around -but i'm at a loss as far as flute players go.

Thanks!

There's a Bill Evans album called What's New - Bill Evans with Jeremy Steig that has Autumn Leaves on it.
As far as flutists, check out Hubert Laws, Lew Tabackin, and Orlando Valle "Maraca". There are tons more, but those were just the first 3 to pop into my head.

Hi Ryan,

One of my favorites! Especially when you listen to it sung by Eva Cassidy here on the tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7-haKkFnT8

It's not on flute-but guitar, piano and voice, though, if it doesn't move you...??! ; ) And thanks Ed, I'll see if I can find a clip of Bill Evans playing it too.

Keep this post updated please-would like to hear more!

Have fun guys,
Barry

I recently found a Stan Getz version of Autumn Leaves on youtube. It just blew my sandals off!! It's SOOOOOO beautiful. Worth a listen, I'm sure you could learn it for flute. A great challenge :D

Hubert Laws and Ali Ryerson has recorded this tune.

It took me all of 30 seconds to find. I did the Google search "Autumn Leaves" + Flute + CD.

Ali Ryerson's version is amazing.

Hey guys, thanks a lot.

I'm looking more specifically for flute, especially atone to emulate. I have a ton of great recordings for sax.

Ben Webster, Stan Gets (2 versions - the non ballad one is awesome), Art Pepper, Paul Desmond, and I just got the Bill Evans version.

I also have a zoot sims recording which is great. Here is the youtube of it:

Keep 'em coming!
