View Full Version : What I really think of Ed Zentera and EZMPC.COM

The guy is awesome. I recently did a trade with him involving a soprano sax, and 6 mouthpieces.

I honestly sound so much better now that I am out of the stock mouthpiece world. Ed was very generous with his prices, and ended up doing a lot of extra work for nothing on our deal. Over countless emails, I have learned an enormous amount knowledge from him. I am also in his debt for helping advise me in my search for a new Tenor. Ed has a way of mixing professionalism with sincere friendliness, and goes out of his way to learn about your needs and tendencies before he advises you. This was a very refreshing experience.

I used a JJDv 8* to gauge his work by. Every piece that I bought from Ed outperformed the JJDV in most areas (many different sounds though)IMO. I am currently awaiting another custom reface on my old Otto Link STM. I will post a review when I get it back, but as many of you out there already know, Ed is a miracle worker with Links. I am loving the hard rubber Tone Edge Ed. This thing is wickedly addictive to my soul.

I am not ashamed to say that Ed's work has made me a better musician. I am doing things now on most of his mouthpieces that I haven't ever been able to do in over 17 years on my stock pieces. I am faster, more dynamic, louder, softer, sweeter, and nastier when provoked:)

I guess what I am trying to say is this. Thanks Ed!! You DA Man!!!

Yep,

I have four of his pieces. Two I got second hand and two that Ed did for me. All are great mouthpieces. It's almost like I'm spoiled now and can no longer tolerate a stock mouthpiece anymore. Ed is definitely the man. ;)

I'm curious why you put the frowning angry face in the title??

Yeah, I was ready to read some people spitting this guy up and chewing him out. Now I'm disappointed! lol

It got your attention, didn't it? It got mine. I'm guessing that's what the frown face was about.

I changed it to a thumbs up. Too misleading and mixed in message, and I think it was a mistake by the OP anyway.;)

No mistake. CraigH was right on!! I was just trying to get the word out, and unfortunately, it is human nature for us all to want to watch somebody make a scene:) But I thought the more clicks, the better. (4 a good cause)

I already had an mod (**edit:) ask if I wanted to change it to a smiley face. This place cracks me up:) Maybe in the midst of all of this emoticon controversy, even more people will read this thread and come to learn of Ed's great work.

But.......for the record........I vote angry face!!!! It just works.:D

Yes Ed knows how to bring the best out of classic American M/P's.
I have a Meyer6alto and a Tone Edge7 tenor EZ'd. It made me realize how shoddy and bland some of the big name 'stock' pieces are. These classic pieces defined the sound of many great players over the decades by allowing them to shape and refine the 'sound' they were searcing for.
No disrespect to the other guy's either I can only speak as I find. EZ & LAW.

I'm not going to lose my cookies over a smiley face, so back it goes to angry face.8-)

A big +1 for Ed! Great work, great communication and customer service, and a grand sense of humor.

Ed will always be the go-to guy for me. He can custom design, but more importantly for me, he can restore a piece by keeping it close to original.

Or they'll just browse the titles, assume it's a complaint and move on. Not cute, clever or funny when it comes to someone's business.

They'll mouse over it at least. If they cared enough to remember the "complaint," they'd care enough to read it.

It is not my intention to hurt Ed Zentera in any way. I will ask for the icon to be changed back into a thumbs up as SAXISMYAXE suggested.

No offense, but listen to Grumps.

If you had looked around a bit before deciding that we need to be tricked into learning about Ed's work you would have discovered that he has been a high profile member of this community for quite a long time. Try using the search button and you'll see what I mean. More, if you hang around here for long, you'll learn that Sotwers are generally pretty allergic to marketing tricks and gimmicks of any sort, and the shill alert is always on red. Ed needs no nonsense of that sort.

Glad you discovered Ed. The mouthpiece he did for me is brilliant, too!

I recently asked Ed to work on my Sugal Super Classic I for alto. He improved the response greatly. The work and communication were first rate. Excellent refacer, highly recommended! And this involved a mouthpiece travelling from Europe to the USA and back to Europe...

Done. But this is the last time we're doing this though.

...I already had an op ask if I wanted to change it to a smiley face.

By the way, OP stands for Original Poster, which in this case, that would be you ;)

SoulFingers brought this to my attention (thanks, everybody, once again for the very kind words...) It means a lot when my clients tell me they are satisfied with my workmanship and it means even more when they feel compelled to spread the word.

I found the angry face hilarious.

Whether the duplicity does more harm than good, I'll chalk it up to a good laugh and the saying, "there's no such thing as bad publicity".

BTW - SoulFingers has been a wonderful acquaintance to have made and we have had some very interesting discussions. I wish I had more time to delve into "auxilliary projects".

Yep, I guess I was a little off last night in my word choices and emoticon selection. I had meant to type mod. But thank you for the changing. This one is permanent I promise.

Sorry to everyone I tricked into getting here. I wont do that kind of thing anymore. I respect and appreciate everyone's opinion here.

It really is the dawn of a new day on the boards when the potential energy for a group hug is so measureable...
