For all those lucky people that have one!
What do you think of yours? What if anything was a close second?
What did you settle on for your setup, classical and/or jazz.
I've just got the standard SIII (which was expensive enough) with a C S80 and a metal Link 5*.

Lucky you! I had one on trial from Tenor Madness for about a week, but ultimately stuck with my Serie II matte finish bari. I really liked the focus of the III, especially in the left-hand upper-register, and the ergonomics were extraordinary. However, I stuck with my II for the slightly greater tonal mass and for the outstanding intonation. One downside of the III is that, due to the new neck design, it would be much harder to find other necks to fit, whether Selmer or after-market.
That said, I was sorely tempted by the III---and hope to add it to the aresenal before long.

I know what you mean about the SII, but as I didn't have a bari, the SIII was too tempting!
Do the necks really make THAT much of a difference considering its such a small portion of the sax? Alto Tenor Soprano yeah, but the bari is so small... But yeah they'll have sliver and solid silver ones to choose from.
The peg is a real bonus, takes the weight out of playing.

Thats how its gonna be huh? Ok. I'll go start the black lacquered series II bari sax club. That'll show you exclusive :twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twis ted: :D (JK)

Huh? What's so odd about the neck (other than it feels like it's made from tin foil)? I tried a series III and even tried a series III neck on my VI, which worked wonderfully...

I could only just afford the Bari, I've not looked into necks (yet!), i know that they are a slightly different design, but yeah I should imagine the same number fit the SII as the new SIII.

But did you try the VI neck on the III? I tried both SII and Yamaha necks, and none fit the III. The photo and text below (courtesy selmer.fr) refer to a different "cone" design and a new SIII angle. The latter shouldn't matter, but the former appeared to, at least in my experience.
Glad to hear of silver-plate and sterling options.

Hoping there's a III bari in the vendor room at the Symposium this year.

I didn't put my neck on the series III because it was a touch too big (the series III neck was a touch small on my horn - But was close enough that either could be easily adjusted). I do recall a taper somewhere on the neck itself, but the size of the neck was close enough to mine that they seemed interchangeable. As a matter of fact, I am waiting to find out when the series III necks are available (alone) because it sounded great on my VI, a bit more focused, and more bite in the bottom end.

Me?
Well, in case I'm the one in question, I'm still on a BL3 with either Legere 4.25 or Vandoren 4s. I think I might try some more open mouthpieces with it though, now that response isn't an issue anymore...maybe I'll go back to my B35.

Hello All,
I purchased a Series III bari from Saxforte.
I have had it now for about 2 months. So far I am very pleased. Great intonation, fast response and a big sound. I switched from a Keilwerth and Yani 991.
My current set up is Jody Jazz DV 8 with with something around a 2.5 or 3 strength reed. I have been tinkering with some other mpc's I have (RPC, SR Tech, etc.) but so far I am staying with the JJ DV. I recently got a JJ DVNY mpcs. Plays beautifully, just not enought edge or umph for my tastes.
The only negatives is the weight of the horn which is somewhere between the Keilwerth (lightest) and Yani (heaviest) without the floor peg. The case looks nice but is not as protective as a BAM case I have, but should be fine to transport to gigs.
