Hi all,

I currently play a eugene reglein J6 tenor mpc. I don't really like even the best sounds that I get from it. However, getting a new mpc isn't really an option for the time being. It always seems harsh in the palm key area. I currently use Hemke 3.5's and the give me the best sound i've had so for on this mpc. The only problem is that promote a bit of squeaking. I've used Rico Jazz Select, Vandoren Java, and Legere plastic. None of these created satisfactory sounds...I really think it's just the mpc, but if anybody has a suggestion of a different reed to use please let me know. Because of the mouthpiece, I'm trying to make my sound similar to Branford Marsalis. Ideally, I'd like the Joel Frahm sound.
Thanks

Might try the Rico La Voz, Legere Studio Cut, or Peter Ponzol. Otherwise, you might just need a softer reed. Hemke's are further down my list.

I never played with a eugene reglein J6 tenor mpc before but I had the same squeaking problem with my mouthpiece long time.. Finally, I got my mouthpiece refaced, since then, I don't have any more squeaking problem..

Hemke reeds are good but I am using small size Vandoren 16 or Vandoren Blue box reeds for my setup.
