So everybody is talking about II, III, 36 & 54, which is best?

My choice: Series III.

What reason you like Series III ?

Are you Series III user? If yes, What type of version you are using - Clear Lacquered, Matte, Brush, Silver plated....?

my Series III tenor is clear lacquered. I like it because of its intonation, great keywork, quality and all the other Selmer qualities. The reason I prefer my Series III is its centerd and clear sound. Its bright, but remains full throughout the whole register. "Bright but not light" is how I like to describe it sometimes. Togehter with a rubber otto link this works really well for me. It really fits in bigband sections, but also cuts through in rock applications. I also use metal otto link sometimes, when playing loud blues or pop.

Sereie3.

But I tried a Refrence that Emilio re-padded and was knocked out :)

A lot has to do, for me at least, with how the sax is set up.
If its covering, etc etc.THEN..I can judge.

Based on the Selmer promo material I thought I'd like the 36 over the 54. Playing demo models at NAMM last Jan for about 10 minutes each changed my mind. I also tried out a Series III. I am saving up money for a 54...

So why does the Serie II fare so poorly in this survey? Seems that the II is pretty well respected among alto players.
