Hello,
I'm trying to find out what the differences are between, say, an LR 8 and an LR 8*. What does the "*" signify? I've searched around and can't find anything that tells this. Thanks in advance.

This isn't just limited to Lebayles. Most mouthpiece manufacturers follow this model. The star means the mouthpiece has a slightly more open tip. So an 8* has a bigger tip opening than an 8, but is smaller than a 9.

If your Lebayle mouthpiece is a tenor one, 8 opening tip would be 110 and 8* would be a little bit higher, 115.

Great, thank you. I thought it was something similar to that, but couldn't find anything that specifically said that. Thanks again.
