I just got a really great long shank D alto off 10M ( thanks Mark) . It's been a long long time since I tried a good Soloist which was original equipment on my horn , a 109... V1. The piece and the horn go so well together..the intonation really straightens out and the palm keys are fat . the whole range from bottom Bb even.
It's made me really keen now to find equally good Soloists for my baritone and tenor although I've no idea what tips to go for..maybe D's all round.
Great to hear the original voice of the horn and what you can do when you get a good original piece.
