Although I have been doubling for musicals for several years on saxes/clarinets/flute, I only recently expanded to piccolo. After practicing piccolo intensely for the last few weeks to bring it up to scratch, it sounds great which makes me very happy! But now I'm struggling with pitching on the flute. Any tips for doubling with both? Grrrrrrr......

Get a great teacher! The flute is extremely hard to teach through the internet. The piccolo is almost impossible. Get in touch with someone who knows the two and take a lesson or twelve. It will be the easiest and quickest way to improve.

Practice both together for a while. It'll just come back. Your muscles are tensed up for the picc.

I agree with Mr Ward.
Start a practice session on flute, when you are warmed up go to piccolo.
Switch back and forth, and keep a tuner on the music stand.
A piccolo has different pitch characteristics than a flute, if it has a conical bore. (The flute has a cylindrical bore). But switching back and forth is the best way to keep your emboucure ready to play on either instrument.

So, a cylindrical piccolo will have the same intonation tendencies as a flute?
