Dear All,
Is this way better piece, compared to Runyon XL or smoothbore? Thank you.

Not better ... just unique. Simlar response to the smoothbore, with a more complex sound. The Jag will give more natural overtones, when pushed.

Dear Brian and All,
Thank you for your assessment. By the way, I am playing the XL (# 8) on my Yamaha soprano. I am buying a new alto, probably the Yanagisawa. My another question is, if I want to go with the XL on my new Alto, then can I switch to the same opening, ie. #8 on the Alto?
Is the Smoothbore the same as the Spoiler series metal? Thanks.

MM ... Yes.
Lee, I dont use a Runyon on Soprano, but a #8 is relatively easy to control and a good choice for alto. 7 would probably be considered average for jazz ... I have used 8's and 9's myself without any problems.

The WW & BW uses outdated/wrong terminology on the Runyons. I think they are the same.
It seems like once the WW & BW makes a listing, the only thing they change is the price. Some typo's and misleading lables are printed over and over again. Still, their catalogs are the best one-stop reference for woodwind stuff. I always keep one in reach.

Hi!
Just for clarification--------!!!!!!
The SMOOTHBORE AND THE SPOILER METAL SERIES HAVE IDENTICAL BORE DIMENSIONS.
I welcome any and all questions about the Runyons.
