Hello, Buescher fans.
I am a new member of Buescher forum.

I purchased a vintage Buescher from our new SOTW member.
(Recently pro woodwind tech completely disassembled, cleaned up, lubricated, assembled and adjusted)

It is Aristocrat Serial I 2826XX about 1937 years.
This one has dark and sweet sound.

I am looking for better mouthpiece and reeds match for this horn.
(for some classic and oldschool jazz)

I attached some pictures of this Buescher.

PS. Thank Jicaino for good advice on purchasing.

More pictures.

PS. Thank John aka ACTION for deal.

Now, I play Vintage Buescher! =)

He sells another good saxophones in http://forum.saxontheweb.net/showthread.php?t=112174 thread. =)

good to know you got it. As I said, it's really a nice deal! enjoy this marvelous horn. How do you like it so far?

I am testing mouthpieces atm.
(Do you know good one for early aristo?)

Vintage Keywork is some weird to me yet.
I gonna adjust my fingers to this horn.

However, my girl loves this alto's tone. (more woodwind like?) =)

I got adjusted to the keywork instantly. The Buescher alto's keywork is the best I've come across. Much easier than Selmers.

MPC's I like with Buescher altos:

Vandoren V16 HR Medium chamber
BARI HR mpcs
Vintage Meyers (pricey!!! and they are kind of the same as V16....)
Brilharts
Bergs vintage HR.

What kind of music are you into?
I second Twonble's comment about ergos. I feel at home playing buescher altos.

I have a Brilhart but it's special edition.
(I donno tip size, however, it came with bundle of another Alto... narrow beginner MP?)
I have S80 C*, Meyer 6M, Jumbo Java A35, Leo M Bundy 4, too... for alto.

I might try V16 if I don't like one of mine.
I don't wanna try Vintage Meyer MP yet.

Hmm... I had no problem with Conn Chu keywork... (Small Hand?)
But, very low note's keywork on Buescher is strange to me yet. (Do I need risers?)
And normal B key is pearl is not sticked and rolling inside... (Can you understand what I mean?)
Maybe I need 'a' day of train.

I like to play 1930 - 1950'ish Jazz and some classical tune.

meyer 6M is a safe bet, jumbo java A35 could work well if paired to the proper reed.

I take that you have a frozen roller on the B key? that's low B right?

About ergos, try to think your wrists transverse axis parallel to your body (don't know if I'm making myself clear here...) or "don't flap arms like a chicken" ;) while playing.

No, I mean normal B key's Pearl.
(I am going to bring it to my dear tech to GLUE it)

Low B's roller is rolling veeerrryy well.
Hard to press this button.

oh you mean the pearl is spinning inside the holder! applying superglue with a needle point on the edge (between the pearl and the holder) should cure this. Very careful as those old nitro lacquers are reactive and fragile.

MPC's I like on my Big B

Northway
Barone Vintage

If it's an alto, I like the Morgan 5L with Vandoren ZZ3 reed on my Aristocrat serie I alto. :)

I use a modern (well, probably 1980s or 90s) Meyer 6M on my Buescher 1933 alto, works well, with Java reeds. I got used to the keywork instantly, though suddenly I have become 'un' used to the short G# key, when I was fine from the off...

Hey thanks for the kind words - my wife made all the cakes etc for our reception, she's a great chef!

BUT the videos of me playing aren't on the Buescher, I'm playing my Meister in those. I only got the Buescher in February. HOWEVER I would say I sound very similar on my Buescher to my much newer Meister. But the Buescher is sweeter in tone and still mellow.

By the way, your Buescher looks really great! Mine looks like its done the rounds a lot - no dents but worn lacquer and some worn pearls. I'll post pics sometime.

Mine has really clear engraving on the bell and no major/serious dent, scratches...
Lacquer is pretty shiny but I have some burnt(?) lacquers off around resolders keyguards. (Cosmetic flaw?)

However, when I hold the sax and play it it still looks good as vintage.

Tone is refined as dark and deep, but I can play loud enough,
Soft with focusing, not much spread out, mellow but have core (not vacant)... good intonation... .
(no boomy/edge like 6M, no piercing/project like my VI clone... not free blowing... I feel some resilence... maybe old pads?)

I guess this sax is classic + usefull versatile.
I just wondered what differences with other old buescher models (late TT, Big Bell, Top&Cane...)

Now, I have no problem with vintage buscher keywork. (just my left pinky is so funky)

Question about case.

I have a protec contoured alto case. But, aristocrat series 1 looks like little big to my container because of its huge keyguard and neck guard. Do I need to buy another carrying case, or is it okay with protec contoured?
