Help?...I inherited what I was told is a 1953 King. Ive done some online research trying to pinpoint the model and actual age based on what I believe to be the serial number 95070 stamped on both the neck and the lower rear base of the body found just above the seam where the bell attaches to the body.

The serial number (what I believe to be) doesnt match even in the number of digits for everything Ive found online. The neck appears to be silver, and there are pads on both sides of the bell.

Pics attached. Any additional ifon I can give you beyond the photos to determine what model it is? Thanks all.

Nowhere near the 1950's as far as date of manufacture. That is in fact an H.N. White "King" Improved model Tenor, made between 1925 and 1930.

While I like these horns quite a bit (especially compared to their contemporaries c. 1920s), and feel they possess the classic King "umph", they do not go for much money compared to their much later, and admittedly improved, Zephyr and Super 20 descendants.

I recommend that you keep it, play it, and enjoy it.
