I've just taken delivery of a yamaha yts32 which came with a loaned Selmer C* mouthpiece. I find this a bit constricting and hard to blow, in the upper register. I've tried Java 2 and Rico 2 1/2 reeds, both with similar effect.
What would the group suggest I try as a first mpc if I find I cannot get on with the Selmer. Most threads I've read on the Selmer seem to rate it, so am I doing something wrong?
I'm not completely new to sax as I've been playing alto for about 15 months.

Thanks,

Steve

C* is the standard choice for alto mouthpieces, but the tenor C* is too small in tip opening. A D size is more equivalent to the alto C*. There is a lot of dogma gong around on recommending a C* for all sax sizes.
