I've seen this model name applied to the post-S1/S3 Buffet saxes made almost entirely by Keilwerth. These are Buffet/JK hybrids, with some S-series and some SX90 characteristics. I've never played one of these, but I own a current production Buffet that has a lot of JK in it (these are made as a sort of Boosey and Hawks joint effort). It's a truly sweet instrument, and I suspect anything called "Expression" and wearing the Buffet name would also be quite good.

Actually, the horns I was referring to are made in Taiwan... and are Selmer "copies"...

anyway... I suspected that they could possibly be being sold under another name in the States... as I have never seen any mention of these horns anywhere except for in Europe.

They sell for less than the Yamaha 275 and are really not bad horns for that kind of money. The earlier models had some real intonation deficiencies in the lower range.... but that has now been improved.

I suppose that it is simply market strategy- to sell the horns under different "brand names" in the U.S and in Europe....
can anyone shed some light here?

Maybe B&H is selling their Evette line under that name. That would account for the low price, as these are Asian-made and are not considered pro or even intermediate horns.

My previous post described a completely different animal than these Evettes.

yeah, MAG... I understood that.
Buffet is a completeely different thing, entirely.

These are student horns...
approximately comparable to the Yamaha 275
yet about $200 cheaper...
they have a very resonant, full sound...
tonally MUCH better than most of the cheaper horns.
I wonder if they might have a more successful alloy going for them...

Still, with all the talk about "stencils", etc...
I DO wonder if these horns are sold in the States under a different name...
