Since I'm still looking for a good beginner sax, has anyone tried the Amati brand and if you have what are your opinions on this? The Amati AAS 32ll is $15 cheaper then the Jupiter 767, so also with that, out of those 2, which one should I get? Thanks in Advance!

i used to have an amati when i started, but i dont know what model. Anyway, it was a decent horn and got me through 5 years of playing. Depends on the price really. I would recommend the yamaha 275 through to the 675 for the beginner, purely because for the price, the quality is great, some people play the 62 their entire lives.

hope that helps a wee bit

I used to have Amati ATS-32 and didn't like it at all, bad tone, screws used to get loose, it was out of tune... Maybe I just bought crappy one.I think there is match better student horns out there like Yamahas, Keilwerths, ...

Megan, Of the two saxes you mentioned the Jupiter is the better one. One of the best selling student saxes is a YAS23 Yamaha. They are good players and are pretty tough horns too. Slightly cheaper and also a very good student horn is the Vito. Of course don't overlook some great USA made horns of the 50s and 60's. Conn, Buescher, King, and Martin are great players and can be had for a reasonable price too. Good luck, and take your time selecting. Play as many different brands as you can before deciding.
