Wanted to Buy: Vito Plateau Bb Clarinet
Anyone have one of these used? I would like to purchase one for doubling, but don't want to spend a whole lot on it. Just wondering if anyone bought one, didn't like it, and now wants to part with it.

These are pretty hard to find. I've restored two basically identical ones, a Normandy and a Noblet (though the latter was wood rather than plastic). If you come up empty-handed in your search, let me know, I could modify a standard Vito (or any other standard clarinet) to a plateau system.

I got mine off of Ebay for i believe about 100.00 had it repadded and corked. I would watch ebay I see them regularly on there. There is the vito and normandy plastic and there are also Noble and normandy wood versions. I own the Normandy wood, and a good friend of mine has the normandy plastic.
Good hunting.

Just a tiny word of caution - there's more to clarinetistry than fingering tone holes, and in the end it might be the least of troubles, or precise fingering might do wonders for your sax or flute playing.
If I had say $300 to burn, I think I'd rather spend it on a conventional clarinet (eg a wooden Vito if you can find one), and bought a sax snout friendly mouthpiece and spent the rest with a couple lessons with a clarinet teacher.
But maybe that's just me. Good luck anyway. 8-)

Hey Tic, what's a "sax snout friendly mouthpiece"?

Well, funds have fallen short anyway, but (and I went through this on another thread), I have petite motor muscle problems (sax and violin have helped, but not cured the problem), and therefore can't keep the holes sealed. I know tone quality suffers a bit w/closed holes, but it's more for pit playing and home amusement more than anything.
