Hey all.
Just rec'd an old Cleveland today, s.n. puts it in mid 60's. I wasn't expecting much, based upon the reputation it has garnered on the internet.
...Wassup w/ that ?
Granted, I am sure it's no Super 20 ....but this one plays very nicely. Good smooth tone, nothing about the ergos which were bothersome, nice feel to it, quite easy to play (and this was with ME blowing it thru a Hite Premier MP....).
I could see it as being a good, solid tenor to fill most applications someone would need it for. Has some nice vintage Mojo to it, as well:rr:
Now the favor: the octave key stem looks like it broke off long ago. I am not even GONNA post in the wanted section, nor am I going to seek a "parts" sax just for this. I have a good metalsmith who has done some good fabrication for me locally (he reproduced some old Keilwerth lucite keyguards for me recently, too) and I am sure he can handle rigging up a new stem for this key...everything else about it looks good, barrel not bent or anything, key derpresses and rebounds just fine....it's just sans the stem.
Although I don't NEED it, it'd be nice to have a pic of what the original top of the key looks like (I know what you are gonna say...but you just TRY "googling" ~octave key/octave stem/king/cleveland/tenor/sax/saxophone~ images in ANY of those combinations and see how far you get ;) )
Anyways...if you can help me out, post image here or just PM me.
this is for the older version of the Cleveland...pre 615 (which has a differently designed octave key assembly).
Grazie tanto, Ragazzi....
