if you have the horns you're satisfied with - and all you buy are reeds & accessories - how will your local sax shop survive the credit crunch?

other than buy a horn for posterity - any other ideas on supporting your friendly sax dealer?

Take your sax into the shop and get it tuned and those pads you have been ignoring replaced.

Sign up for some music lessons.

Buy some sheet music.

I don't think that the dealers make all that much on horn sales, which is why many of them try to keep repair shops in top quality. I do most of my own repairs, but I've been taking some of the more time consuming jobs to my tech to help keep him in business. He doesn't really need my business as he keeps telling me "I don't want to see some of these horns again, I'm up to my eyeballs in horns, go away". He and I gig together fairly regularly, so we can pick on each other like that. I think repairs are really where it's at for them, and the horns are just an added bonus for us.
