I was in my usual lessons and my teacher started to look more into how i was playing again, and we realized that i have been letting my jaw and mouth hold up part of the weight of the horn, therefore not utilizing the neckstrap.
I repositioned myself, which was uncomfortable at first, but got better, but after a while i realized my neckstrap was causing me some discomfort. I figured this shouldn't be something i should have to worry about while playing so I wanted to get another. I'm using a rico jazz stripe neckstrap on my PMXA alto.
I'm looking for something thats a little better padded but not overly bulky. I don't really have a shop in town, and can't drive there so i'd have to order this off the net. Looking for not overly expensive as well, something around 20$.
Hope you can offer some good input, and thanks in advance!

Had a neck problem recently so bought a BG shoulder strap. Took a bit of fiddling to get everything just right but thoroughly recommend it. Usual no connections etc.

I'd also recommend a Neotech, but the Wick-It model, which does not bounce/stretch like the model one sees most frequently.

I have been using a Ligaphone CC padded NS for 10 months on my tenor and am very pleased with the results, no neck issues.

There are seven basic types of Sax straps from Neotech (http://www.neotechstraps.com/category/second/?CATEGORY_ID=3). The most common ones found are;
The Soft Sax® Strap (http://www.neotechstraps.com/product/detail/?PRODUCT_ID=2&PRODUCT_SUB_ID=&CATEGORY_ID=3) features a neoprene pad with elastic support. This is the strap with the most flex (often referred to as "bounce" here on the forum). It is our best-selling strap.
The Classic Strap™ (http://www.neotechstraps.com/product/detail/?PRODUCT_ID=3&PRODUCT_SUB_ID=&CATEGORY_ID=3) has a lower-profile laminated neoprene/elastic pad which has some "give" but not nearly as much as the Soft Sax®.
The Wick-It Strap™ (http://www.neotechstraps.com/product/detail/?PRODUCT_ID=31&PRODUCT_SUB_ID=&CATEGORY_ID=3) features a pad made with "memory foam" which allows moisture to "wick away" from the skin. It does not have any stretch at all.
All three styles are available in your choice of hook styles; open, swivel, or plastic-covered metal.
If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a PM.

I have 2 Neo-Tech straps. And early Classic Strap for Tenor (swivel), and a new Soft Sax strap for Bari (swivel) . On alto I just use a generic padded strap (open hook). Soprano I use a generic unpadded metal latching hook.

This Cebulla strap will do the job for you. As to price, you can either keep buying $20 straps until you finally break down and buy a good for more money. In which case you'll have spent far more by wasting money on the cheap ones.
Neotech is a good brand also, providing you can figure out which one will work best for you.
