What is the deal with people selling Sugals and labeling them the wrong mouthpiece. I've emailed 4 different people in the past 4-6 months. They label it a Super Gonz II but you look at the picture and it's a SG I.There's one on Ebay that is like that right now. I've also seen where they say it's a SG I and the picture is clearly a SG II. These pieces are very very different. The I is a darker link like piece. The II is a bright powerful screamer. I don't understand the confusion here. I've had both so I know the difference. I did buy a SG II high baffle piece a couple of years ago and it came labeled SG I. It kind of bothered me that a 500 piece was labeled wrong. Maybe this is happening more often than just my one mouthpiece. Just an observation. I'm getting sick of emailing these sellers though.

I had a similar experience about a month ago. A guy in the UK had an item on eBay listed as a silver-plated Super Gonz I. The photo looked like gold-plating to me, so I emailed my question. The seller assured me it was silver-plated but said there was a mistake and the item was really a Super Gonz II. Subsequently, the seller pulls the listing because of the mistake and lists a gold-plated SG I. Well, I bought it and it's a good piece and definately worth what I paid ($195 US shipped).
BTW, I'm saving the SGI, my ESP is on the sidelines, and a metal NY Link 7 has become my main piece. I added a small baffle to it and it really plays nice. Altissimo is easiest on the Link and intonation is good.

Yeah I know, I'm the one who emailed that guy. I'm glad you like the SG I. I have one that I played for 7 years before I found this forum. I remember always thinking I was lucky because I loved that piece and my sound on it. I had the perfect sound. Then I found this forum and now I'm all messed up. I got some killer pieces though. I've been thinking more and more that I would be better off getting rid of the internet and my TV for 6 months and see how my life changes. I miss those simple days.

I will if you will!
Until last May I hadn't paid any attention to the saxophone marketplace and equipment since around 1971. I played the same equipment and the same brand/strength of reeds. You're right. The internet and this forum have changed my habits and ignited my interest in saxophone stuff.
I still check SOTW a couple times each day, but I have no more purchases planned. I just sold my Cannonball tenor which I mistakenly bought last June. That was the first new saxophone I ever had, and I started playing in 1960.
I think a major factor that influences equipment purchases is the degree to which the musical genres vary. Thirty years ago I believed that I could play one setup for jazz, big band and classical...and I did. The increase of R&B and the resulting smooth jazz styles make heavy use of volume, brightness, altissimo and note-bending. Finding one mouthpiece/reed setup that can do everything is much harder now, and, maybe, impossible.
Your sound is very good on every piece I have heard you play. Just forget about it and play, man!

My request to the seller was to send me the equivalent of at least a 9 opening, to which I received a reply accepting my request.
What arrived was well packed, without a lig, and without the opening
I hope the seller will be cooperative.
Yes I'll keep you posted.
