They are eager to sign me up but I wonder if they will actually pay a claim? K

Well, I would let one of our local legal beagles read the contract before you spend any money.

I've been using Clarion for years now, but I haven't had to make a claim.

I keep photos of all my stuff in a safety deposit box at the bank. I also keep online photos so I can send them out if I need to send them to the insurance or police. I have apprasials of stuff that cost more than $5000. I have all my receipts and copies of insurance in the deposit box.

If you have your paper work in order they won't be able to screw you over like a lot of insurance companies do these days.

I've been using them for two years, but have had not had to file, thankfully. They ask for appraisal letters for anything over $5K, so I asked Tenor Madness to provide those. As for items under $5K, mostly currently-produced items, I provided values easily documented by WWBW, etc. They don't care what you paid for something, only what it would cost you to replace, so receipts are not critical to that. Here (http://www.clarionins.com/unique-musical-instrument-coverages.asp) are their coverage details.

More in this thread (http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=99791&highlight=clarion)also.

I have a policy with them now. I haven't, thankfully, had to file a claim, but the customer service is excellent. I am concerned about the fact that their policy is issued by a member of the AIG group. I hope they are around to (and able to) pay a claim if it comes up.
