I recently purchased both a Tenney Meyer and an Tenney Otto Link. I played them back to back for about 10 minutes, and quickly decided to keep the Otto Link. The Link's sound is very dark while the Tenney Meyer is very Phil Woods or Cannonball sounding.
Dr. Tenney really does a nice job on the facing curves and rails--I strongly recommend his pieces to anyone.
I have to commend Dr. Tenney for his work; it is truly amazing. Are there other mouthpiece refacers who produce similarly good work?

Phil-Tone from SOTW does a nice job with a stock Meyer. It has a lot more pop and projection, very responsive piece now and plays evenly throughout the horn. If you were interested in a trial swap, my Phil-tone for your Tenney. If you're not satisfied, we would just mail our pieces back.
Let me know.

If you like the darkness of the Tenney Otto Link and don't prefer the brilliant/rich character of the BP10E's great vintage-Meyer sound, then I would avoid the Phil Tone. Dr. Tenney's work is the best I have played. I am preparing to send him a few pieces to work on--I only own four of his pieces so I have a lot of catching up to do.

I literally just got my Tenney Meyer in the mail today and absolutely love it! I have finally found the sound I'm looking for in my playing. I haven't played an otto link but I don't think I would like the darkness.
