Ok I cant spell it and I am not sure if I have it either.......help I just changed from Tenor to Alto.....Crat to 6M....I was playing a STM 8* and I just started 2 days ago playing a new Barone NY 6M on the 6M.......I was without any horn for about 2 weeks as the trade was being made...that is the history....I am having trouble closing off the mpc on in the high register(mainly palm keys)the inside of my bottom lip is a little sore.....I took the horn to a repair guy and it will need a overhaul and there was a lot of leaks in the lower stack..he fixed it as best as he could and the horn does play.....am i using to closed a mpc (coming from tenor STM 8* )or will this get better with a little practice.[Impnt].it is very frustrating as I had a nice tone and no problems playing tenor for the past 12yrs.........I may need some encouragement here:(:(

embouchure
that's a start
You're probably biting a bit on the mouthpiece. Reeds might be a bit stiff as well. Search around the forum, there's quite a bit of threads on it. One going on right now actually ,just dig around a bit.

The smaller the saxophone, the more critical the placement of mouthpiece, tongue, and air stream.
As far as the tip size, I have the opinion that the smaller the sax, the narrower the tip needs to be at first.
Keep working--you'll eventually discover how great of a horn the alto is--no matter what Dr G and Thomas say.:)

I play 120+ tip openings on bari, and still play a Meyer 5m on alto, so 120 down to 70. No biting problems though, but I started on alto. You'll get there. 6m's are good horns, and the barone is a good mouthpiece, so you're set there.
The switch is probably frustrating, and seeing the impatient emoticon doesn't help, but go back to the basics with long tones and what not. It will take time, but you'll get there.
