I have been looking around for a project horn lately and came across a G.C. Jenkins saxophone. I tried to find some information on the forum but nothing came up under G.C. Jenkins.
Does anyone know anything about these horns? And whether or not it would be worth it to get one to fix up?

Looks like you found a stencil horn. Pay a visit to Dr. Rick to see what you've got:

There was a Jenkins Music in Kansas City for many years but I think they sold under the name Harwood. Post a photo for better info.

Yes, Although I don't think I've ever come across the initials "G.C. Jenkins" - but I've seen dozens of C-Mels and 1920's alto's engraved -
Harwood Professional...Jenkins Music Co....Kansas City MO
However - a quick 'google' pulled up this catalogue for sale (http://www.elderly.com/vintage/items/300U-117.htm) - but this Jenkins is from Decatur, Illinois
G.C. JENKINS CO. "JEN-CO MUSICAL PRODUCTS SINCE 1920" CATALOG (1940's)
VGC, 28 page catalog from this Decatur, Illinois music wholesaler, includes photos of staff, list of endorsers, photos of factory, etc. Producst inclued vibes, marimbas, vibra-bells, xylophones, bells, celesta, glockenspiels, tympany, accessories, novelty instruments, band instruments and accordions.

That would be the correct one! These companies were quite popular before WW II.

I remember seeing Jenkins on Harwood stencils, but the one I saw doesn't have Harwood on there anywhere.

Sorry I forgot to post the picture of it.
I have not bought it because I have never heard of it and can't really find any information on it, so I can't post more pictures.
They want about 500 dollars for it, though they say price is negotiable. I figure that I would try to find out some information on it and if I could I would try to get them to lower the price.
Especially since it probably doesn't play and I seriously doubt that it is worth 500 dollars. Even if it was worth that I can't spend that much on a project horn.
Just thought it might be a fun project. That is of course if I can find any information on it and if I can get them to lower the price.

$500 is way too steep for a stencil horn, especially one of this age and seeming condition (the sole photo shows it to be un restored and in need of pad replacement and adjustment at the very least).
Is this a pawn shop, or consignment section of a music store that is selling this?

That IS a high price. For that money you can find an early Buescher or Martin that plays. I have a gold plated L&H that is cleaned and plays, although it needs pads, for less than that silver one. Watch ebay and ask a lot of questions here!

Yes I realized that it was a very high price but it just got me curious about the sax. I had never seen it and wondered if anyone knew anything about it.
Don't worry I was not going to pay anywhere near that price for it.

Have you figured out which horn it was stenciled from yet? If not, post a better picture of the bell tone holes (to see if they're beveled... like Martins) and also a body shot showing the side where we can see the low C key guard, as well as the bottom of the bow. How the serial number is laid out can be helpful as well. Also, does it have a front F key? If not, I'd pass no matter what the price.
