I don't mind buying it but I don't even know where to go to start looking... :(

My 11 yo daughter is in her first year playing the sax and she thinks it's the best thing since video games... :) Of course I'm encouraging her every chance I get because I also played alto in my younger days. Loads of fun when we both pull out our saxophones and practice together... She also has a cheapo soprano that she started on because it was hard for her to get her hands stretched out to all of the keys on my alto...

Anyway, she just got done with her first solo ensemble (superior) and wants something new to practice. She's pretty good for a 1st year student, loves jazz and wants something she can use for a solo in a band concert coming up in about a month...

Whatya got? Or where can you recomend I go to look for something?

Also, what programs can you recomend that I could use to compose some music?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I just saw that link this morning actually... But I was hoping for more of a recomendation. I don't see any kind of difficulty rating on any of the books. So if I spend fifteen bucks on a book of sheet music I'd like to know that it will be at the correct skill level.

For people who might search and find this thread in the future...

I bought the definitive Jazz collection and it's sister book for rock-n-roll too.

Bought them from www.sheetmusicsurplus.com .

When I startd to play again, I downloaded sibelius scorch and picked free stuff here

http://www.sibeliusmusic.com/cgi-bin/search.pl?com=advancedsearch&&InstrumentationID=1&SoloInstrumentID=33&SoloInstrumentID=34&SoloInstrumentID=35&SoloInstrumentID=36

Then you can also listen to what its supposed to sound like too...
