HI!
Please help me out on this. I finally got hold of a bari - a mid 50s King Zephyr. What kinda MPC would U clever fellas in here suggest? I play in a funkband and need an edgy, powerfull tone. What about intonation problems, how do I minimize those - any MPC better than others for this old horn?

All help appreciated - Thanks

(I'm thinking about an open Berg, but don't know)

I have had a number of Zephyrs, in A,T, and Bari...the bari, in particular, works well with a large volume mouthpiece. The Berg rubber pieces are very good, although I didn't like them with the /0 baffle. The /1 or /2 worked great. I know some on this forum will disagree with me, but the Vandoren B75 facing V5 Jazz is a pretty good piece.

If you want to get into more pricey pieces, the Lambersons are awesome for bari, particularly for loud settings...I like the SB, but many here also swear by the DD, particularly for non-low-A horns like the Zephyr

I play a 1937 King Zephyr Bari, and have had great success with Larger faced mouthpieces.

Had Wil Grizzle customize a Meyer 8M and it worked great!

Now playing a Florida Link Metal Bari. Marked 6*..had it opened to .115 and it screams now. Big and fat in the bottom and lots of tone in the top!! Easy altissimmo as well if you want it.

Thanks for helping out. I´ve tried some Bergs, Link, Dukoff - Like the Berg ones best though. I'm trying out a few of those. Great sound - and easy to play I think...

Thanx
