They are all long shank models now. The short shank disappeared in the mid 60s. Just order a Soloist E.

Kenny actually plays a modified long shank soloist style piece. His is actually a little larger than a F. I'd recommend buying a soloist style C* for a little over $100 and get it refaced by one of the mouthpiece guys, which will end up being a much better piece than a selmer reissue.

Just buy a new soloist C* or C** and practice lots. If you can't play loud enough, its not the mouthpiece's fault.
When you've got to the point where you know exactly what you'll achieve by going to a bigger tip opening, then change mouthpiece. Until then, enjoy learning to play the saxophone properly.
Too many people play too big too early. Around a 6 or 'D' (0.076) is plenty big enough on alto.
Remember, Kenny Garrett has finely tuned HIS set-up for HIM, taking into account the thousands and thousands of hours hours practice and playing he's done. Its a highly specialised set-up designed for what HE wants- not the average Joe Blow who wants to sound like him.
