Was discussed recently. No conclusion was decided.
Berg's were pretty high though.

Maybe you can get super famous as a bari player and set the standard yourself. :)

Personally, Link 7* and Meyer 6 is the standard. Most play bergs on tenor.

I would say the Bari Standards are Berg 105-115, Link 7*, Meyer 7, and Lawton 8. These are the mouthpieces that come up when I meet Baritone players. For example, Lee Callet and Mike Brignola recommended the Lawtons when I met them about a decade ago, Arnie Lawrence suggested I go with a Berg or a Meyer since that was what his bari playing friends play, and almost every college sax teacher recommends the Bergs.
I prefer Bergs and suggest them to my students. I should also say that the recommendations have been metals for the Lawton and Links and Hard Rubber for the Meyer and Bergs.

Ive seen alot of people using Links, Bergs and even some C*'s
Theres been a lot of new pieces coming out lately, so the "standard" will probably become obsolete eventually..

Alright, well, I also now see that a slew of people play on mostly Berg's. In regard to their mouthpiece shapes, does anyone know if the images shown on the following page are what they show? B/c on some sites they are completely different.

Also, in a battle, who'd win: HR Link, STM Link, JJ in general, Berg's, Lawton, Meyer, Selmer, or Vandoren. Please keep in mind i'm looking for a well projected edgey sound. I own every model of Jody (classic, ESP, DV, DVNY)and a link. I'm happy with them, but they don't make me happy like my Florida Link on tenor.
On tenor I use a FL or NY link 8 with Vandoren Trad./ZZ/Java/V16 3. On bari, all my Jody's are 8's but the classic is 7. My link is an 8. I use Vandoren Trad./ZZ 3's, Rico Trad./Royal/Jazz Filed 3.5's, or Hemke 3.5's.
Any advice/comments welcome.

Two bari players I play with get the edgy sound you describe. One uses an original Brilhart Level Air 7* , the other a Lawton, I believe a BB chamber in a 7-8 tip. The Level Air is moderately edgy, but that may be the player. The Lawton can do a good imitation of a chain saw. I use a HR Link, and it's more rounded and mellow, not the sound you seem to want (but I like it).

I think there are two standards, modern horn or vintage horn. When I had a Mark VI low A, I used a HR Link 7* but for my old Martin, something a little more tame would be in order. Maybe about a .090 tip and a fattie.

a runyon will project well,i use a smoothbore in a 8 and that does most of what i want in a piece.!
It might not be everyones ideal though, you just have to try them.
im surprised the JJs didn,t do much for you .
