 Hi,
I am currently using a Bundy (alto sax) and I wanted to "upgrade". Any suggestions on a more advanced sax?

The Yamaha intermediates are really nice and you can get good deals here and on ebay. The YAS 52 and potentially the YAS 62 are great horns for the price.

I'll see what I can do about those Yamaha intermediate models. I can't wait to try one out. Thanks for your suggestions sessionsax.

depends on how much money you are willing to put down, what level horn you think you should get, what style you want (vintage vs modern), what general tone qualities you want (some saxes are darker, some lighter), etc.

I've been pretty impressed by the Yamaha 62's. They are a good value compared to most of the other pro horns out there. Sometimes you can find a nice deal on some used pro horns but some of them need work before they play really well. If you look at used horns you should take your teacher with you or an experienced player.

Well, when I upgraded from my 23 yamaha I went and bought the 82z custom yamaha. That horn is so sweet. And it is my personal recommendation. You can get one for about $2,200 at www.prowinds.com 8)

I'm going to have to put another vote in for Yamaha horns. I played briefly on a YAS-52 before trading it in for a 62II. The 52 was the best intermediate horn out of the many I tried, and the 62II, in my opinion, is the best bang-for-the-buck pro horn on the market. You can probably find a used 52 for about 700-900 dollars and a new 62II for 1700.
