Inconsitent. You may need to try several to get a good one, or have it hand finished/refaced. They are a bright and loud design. The metal is soft...they dent easily when dropped.
A few may be on eBay because the owner did not care for the sound. But I think many are being dumped because they found a better Dukoff. I hope you get one that plays decent enough for you to determine if you like it.
what mojo said. i have had probably 20 dukoffs and they all play a little different. i use a brand new 5d tenor and its the best ive found in 25 years of dukoffs .i have kept 6.3 altos and 3 tenors . id probably buy it from you if you dont like it . nothing ive found beats a great dukoff for tenor . and my 6d for alto is the best alto piece ive played ever. a great dukoff will beat just about any designer piece out there but some play not that great so as mojo said you really have to try a bunch. i still like small chmber meyer alto pieces too but they cant compare with the metal dukoff for shear power and edge. email me if you dont like the dukoff. i saw it sell for 37.00 and was too late to get my bid down. you may have just got a great bargain! jdgoldberg@adelphia.net
