Not much experience here. Any info would be appreciated. I just started playing Tenor a few weeks ago. I purchased a vintage Big B from Vintagesax. It's a wonderful horn. I bought a HR Link 7 and it practically gives me a hernia to play it because it takes so much air. It does sound good though. I got a Brilhart Ebolin 5* off ebay and it plays much easier but doesn't have the wonderful sound of the Link. I can't seem to find any info as to what the tip opening on the Brilhart is. The Link is supposedly a 100. I'm trying to figure if I need something inbetween. Any suggestions?
I had been playing alto for a couple of years and didnt realize this was going to be such change. I just love the sound of this Tenor though.

Tenor does require more air than alto,no doubt about it.Link 7 is a good medium opening mouthpiece to start with. What reed are you using? I suggest a medium strenght reed like LaVoz medium or Rico Royal 2 1/2 or 3.Filed reeds (like Rico Royal or Hemke) are easier to play. Also,do the "pop" test on the mouthpiece for proper sealing.

I,ve been using a medium soft Lavoz. Maybe I need something a litlle harder but the medium soft seems to work best for me on both mouthpieces. Thanks for the input.

Some HR Links can really blow quite stuffy. You might want to try a different Link of the same size. There can be such variation. I wouldn't give up on a Link after trying only one. Also, you might want to try a metal Link. I find them to play much freer.
